Community Meetings during w/c Mon 8th August

We will be holding further community meetings as below, with the dual purpose of letting folk know about the setting up of the Trust and hearing your views on some of the emerging project and development ideas. Please come along, bring your ideas and give your opinion. All meetings will be at 7pm. Outline map added

Although many folk have a rough idea of where the Rio Tinto Aluminium Estate is located we thought an outline map would be helpful and this now in the downloads section of the website which is on the lower right hand side of this page. It’s not precise but gives a good indication. The largest part extends from the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe to Roy Bridge, save some areas owned by Forestry Commission Scotland and the John Muir Trust. The eastern boundary is Loch Treig. One third of the Estate is in Glen Shirra, to the west of Laggan.

Moving Forward…

As we move forward we will need to show community support through a strong membership. Already we have more than 500 applications and growing. Over this coming week applications will be processed and those who have applied will receive confirmation. Please encourage neighbours, relatives and friends to apply for membership through the website.

How to become a member

Anyone aged 16 or over, living in the defined community area and on the electoral register may become an Ordinary member of the Trust here. Those living outwith that area may become Associate members here. Those aged from 12 to 15 can become Junior members here. The membership sets the strategic direction of the Trust and elects a seven director Board with powers to co-opt a further two. The categories of membership for Juniors and Associates are non-voting. There are also downloadable forms for Ordinary membership on the News pages. Forms are available in the widely used PDF format, in Microsoft Word (DOC)
