Although many folk have a rough idea of where the Rio Tinto Aluminium Estate is located we thought an outline map would be helpful and this now in the downloads section of the website which is on the lower right hand side of this page. It’s not precise but gives a good indication. The largest part extends from the Aonach Eagach ridge in Glencoe to Roy Bridge, save some areas owned by Forestry Commission Scotland and the John Muir Trust. The eastern boundary is Loch Treig. One third of the Estate is in Glen Shirra, to the west of Laggan. From here the headwaters of the Spey are intercepted, taken by Loch Laggan to Loch Treig and then by tunnel to the power station at the Fort William smelter.
